Three individuals, including two children, were fatally shot Sunday evening in Canoga Park, authorities have confirmed.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) responded to a call at approximately 7:20 p.m. in the 8000 block of Owensmouth Avenue, a neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley. Upon arrival, officers discovered three deceased individuals.
Initial reports from LAPD radio communications indicated that all three victims sustained gunshot wounds to the head. Sources later informed KTLA that two of the deceased were children, estimated to be around 10 years old, and the third was a man in his 40s.
Investigators are treating the incident as a potential murder-suicide. Law enforcement officials told ABC-7 that the suspected perpetrator is believed to be the father of the two children, who were reportedly under the age of 15.
The LAPD's Robbery Homicide Unit is leading the investigation into the tragedy, according to L.A. Police Captain Mike Bland.
