The Ministry of Finance in Aden announced on Tuesday the commencement of financial disbursements for May 2026 salaries for state employees across central and local authorities, as well as economic units. Retirees, martyrs' families, and the injured will also receive payments. Additionally, March salaries for personnel in the Ministries of Defense and Interior are being processed.
A senior official at the Ministry of Finance confirmed that all financial disbursement procedures have been completed and submitted for processing, as part of ongoing efforts to settle state financial obligations.
While this announcement pertains to scheduled payments, numerous government sectors and departments continue to experience delays in salary payments for previous months. This situation raises persistent questions regarding the regularity of disbursements and the stability of fiscal policies, amid a persistent gap in obligations across various state administrative units.
Economic observers note that the disparity in salary payments across sectors reflects structural challenges in public resource management and revenue flow. This exacerbates the financial pressures faced by a broad segment of employees, even as financial announcements are repeatedly made without a comprehensive resolution to accumulated arrears.
Previous official data indicate that ensuring regular salary payments remains one of the most significant challenges related to the general financial situation, particularly given the varied obligations among institutions and the fluctuation of resources.
