Los Angeles County firefighters are contending with a rapidly expanding wildfire near Palmdale that has consumed approximately 200 acres by Saturday evening. Evacuation orders and warnings were issued to nearby residents as the blaze, designated the "Lemon Fire," intensified.
The fire, situated near the intersection of Sierra Highway and Pearblossom Highway, south of Palmdale, reported about 50 acres burned earlier in the afternoon. By 6:45 p.m., the acreage had increased significantly to roughly 200 acres, with containment efforts at only 22%.
At the time of the latest report, no structures had been damaged. The fire commenced around 2 p.m., and its origin is currently under active investigation.
