Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney stated on Wednesday that the United States, under President Donald Trump, has adopted a more realistic perspective on the war in Ukraine, a shift viewed favorably by other G7 leaders.
Carney made these remarks during the G7 summit held in Evians-les-Bains, France. He indicated that he had engaged in approximately seven to eight conversations with President Trump over the preceding 36 hours, covering a broad spectrum of topics.
Among the subjects discussed was Canada's proposed cap on Chinese electric vehicles, a measure that reportedly received President Trump's approval regarding its structural framework.
In separate comments, Prime Minister Carney provided an update on Canada's energy sector, noting that the nation is projected to achieve a liquefied natural gas (LNG) production capacity of 150 megatons by the close of the year. He also expressed his intention to finalize Canada's trade agreement with India before the G20 summit scheduled for November.
