Newly-promoted Saudi Pro League side Al-Diraiyah is making waves with a surprising £17.2 million bid to sign Arsenal's versatile attacker, Leandro Trossard.
The ambitious club, looking to make a splash in their first season in the top flight, has officially submitted the proposal, according to Belgian outlet Het Belang van Limburg. Al-Diraiyah isn't just targeting Arsenal; they're also rolling out the red carpet for Trossard himself, reportedly offering a massive annual salary package of £8.6 million (approximately €10 million net) to lure him to Saudi Arabia.
Trossard, who joined Arsenal from Brighton three years ago, has been a crucial player for Mikel Arteta's squad. His ability to deliver vital goals, often coming off the bench, and his versatility across the frontline have been key to Arsenal's strong performances in domestic and European competitions. Despite receiving a pay raise last summer, his contract, which expires in June 2027, has not yet been extended.
With Trossard approaching his 32nd birthday and his contract entering its final years, Arsenal faces a significant decision. Cashing in on him now would allow the club to recoup most of the original transfer fee paid to Brighton in January 2023. Since his move to the Emirates, Trossard has contributed 36 goals and 34 assists in 174 appearances across all competitions.
Offloading Trossard could also provide Arsenal with the financial flexibility needed to pursue new attacking talent and potentially younger options for their forward line, with Julian Alvarez reportedly a target. While Trossard is currently focused on international duty with Belgium, the substantial financial package from Saudi Arabia suggests a major decision about his future is imminent.
