Arsenal Eyes Four Top Midfielders, Including £100m Newcastle Star

Arsenal is actively pursuing four elite midfielder transfers this summer, reportedly targeting Newcastle United's Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali, alongside Lille's Ayyoub Bouaddi and Bournemouth's Alex Scott.

According to BBC Sport, internal discussions have focused on securing a top central midfield signing, with some initial contact made regarding Guimaraes. However, the club, known for its strategy of agreeing personal terms with multiple targets before proceeding with club-to-club negotiations, is yet to advance significantly on any single deal.

The pursuit of Sandro Tonali is particularly complex, with Tottenham also showing interest. Newcastle reportedly rejected an £80 million offer and it's believed they would demand as much as £100 million to part with the Italian international. Bruno Guimaraes also comes with a hefty price tag, with reports indicating that £60 million would not be sufficient, and questions remain about whether Arsenal should exceed that figure for the 28-year-old.

Younger prospects Ayyoub Bouaddi and Alex Scott could represent more cost-effective, long-term investments for the Gunners, though they also carry the inherent risks associated with less experienced players at the highest level.

The midfielder market is heating up, with the recent £116 million transfer of Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest to Manchester City likely to inflate prices across the board, potentially complicating Arsenal's search for quality and value.
