Iran withdrew from scheduled technical talks on Sunday, citing recent attacks on the country and unfulfilled conditions of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United States, according to a statement by Mehdi Fazaeili, a member of the Office of Preservation and Publication of the Works of Iran’s Supreme Leader.
Fazaeili informed state television that the decision to abstain from the talks was directly linked to escalating tensions and specific grievances regarding the implementation of agreements.
He elaborated on the unmet conditions, stating, "For example, one of the reasons is checking if we have access to the unfrozen funds. If there is no access, then this condition has not been fulfilled." This suggests a deadlock over financial matters as a key obstacle.
The withdrawal underscores the complex and volatile nature of the relationship between Iran and the United States, particularly in the context of ongoing security concerns and the fulfillment of prior bilateral understandings.
