Coalition Vows Firm Response to Houthi Threats Against Saudi Arabia and Yemen

The Joint Forces Command of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen has declared a firm response to any threats targeting the security of Saudi Arabia and the sovereignty of Yemen, denouncing recent Houthi statements as an attempt to divert attention from their violations against the Yemeni people and their internal crises.

The coalition's official spokesperson, Major General Turki Al-Maliki, stated that the Houthi pronouncements are merely an extension of the militia's pattern of evading responsibility for the suffering of Yemenis and an effort to conceal growing popular and tribal rejection within Yemen and the region.

Al-Maliki further elaborated that these statements reflect the militia's continued hostile behavior and their attempts to undermine regional and international security. This occurs despite the efforts by Saudi Arabia and the coalition to find a political solution to the Yemeni crisis through a roadmap agreed upon by the Yemeni government and welcomed by concerned parties. However, the Houthis have reportedly rejected these initiatives and persisted in threatening international maritime navigation in the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, as well as targeting commercial vessels.

The statement also highlighted the militia's role in targeting and destroying numerous economic facilities and infrastructure in Yemen, including the ports of Hodeidah, Salif, and Ras Isa, Sana'a International Airport, as well as power stations and factories. These actions have exacerbated the suffering of the Yemeni people and damaged the national economy.

The Joint Forces Command emphasized that the coalition will deal with utmost firmness and strength against any attempts that threaten the security or sovereignty of the Kingdom, or impinge upon the sovereignty of the Republic of Yemen. The command affirmed that its actions are in accordance with international humanitarian law and its customary rules, ensuring the protection of security and stability in the region.
