Sandro Tonali has officially joined Tottenham, directly addressing transfer speculation and sending a heartfelt message to his former club, Newcastle United.
The Italian international's move to the North London club has now been confirmed, marking a significant addition to Tottenham's squad. This follows a strong start to their summer transfers, which have already included established Premier League players like Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke.
Despite a couple of challenging seasons, there's a renewed sense of optimism at Spurs. Tonali himself emphasized his commitment, stating that Tottenham was his sole focus, dismissing rumors linking him with other clubs. Speaking after his transfer was finalized, Tonali expressed his excitement: "When I arrived at the Club today, it felt fantastic. People said about there being four or five clubs – there was only one."
He elaborated on the immediate connection, mentioning a nearly two-hour conversation with the Head Coach about the club, fans, stadium, and playing style. "It was like magic because I knew immediately that I had to sign for Tottenham," Tonali added. "I’ve played against Tottenham a few times and always found a great atmosphere made by great fans. I can’t wait to start the season.”
Tonali also took a moment to thank the Newcastle fans for their unwavering support during his tenure at St James' Park. He specifically highlighted their backing during his 10-month FIFA ban, stating, "When things were hard for me, you were there. Not for one day did I feel alone. I felt it every time I was at St James’ Park. That’s something I will carry with me for the rest of my life.”
Having impressed during his time at Newcastle, all eyes will be on Tonali to see if he can replicate that form for Tottenham.
