A man was fatally stabbed on the platform of the Sylmar/San Fernando Metrolink train station on Friday afternoon, prompting a homicide investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.

LAPD officers responded to the incident at approximately 2:07 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim with apparent stab wounds. The individual was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities.

Authorities established a perimeter around the platform and initiated a search for a suspect described as a man wearing a reflective vest. While one individual was detained by officers later in the afternoon, the LAPD spokesperson could not immediately confirm if that person had been arrested or booked into jail.

Homicide detectives are actively investigating the stabbing, seeking to determine a motive for the attack. The identity of the deceased has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

However, passengers are being advised to use the rear two cars for boarding and alighting to avoid the active crime scene and minimize disruptions.
