Gaza's civil defence agency and medical sources reported that Israeli airstrikes on Saturday resulted in the deaths of two individuals and caused significant damage to hospital medical supply warehouses. The Israeli military confirmed striking Hamas weapons depots during the operations.
These strikes occurred just one day after Hamas announced its agreement to a ceasefire deal that would involve the surrender of its weapons and a phased Israeli withdrawal from Gaza. While Israel has not issued an official statement on the agreement, a political source indicated to AFP that no withdrawal would occur without the "genuine disarmament" of Hamas.
Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City reported receiving one deceased individual and several injured following an Israeli drone strike in the Sheikh Radwan neighbourhood. The Israeli military stated it was aware of a strike in the area targeting a Hamas operative and confirmed conducting multiple strikes across Gaza, dismantling five Hamas weapons storage facilities.
Separately, Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir el-Balah, central Gaza, received one body and multiple injured following another Israeli drone strike. The military asserted it had struck a Hamas operative in this incident and subsequently targeted a weapons storage facility adjacent to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, which it claimed was utilized by Hamas operatives.
Gaza's civil defence agency reported extensive damage to a storage facility containing medicines and medical supplies belonging to Al-Aqsa Hospital. The Palestinian Ministry of Health condemned the strikes, stating that two of the four warehouses were obliterated and the remaining two severely damaged, impacting vital medical consumables intended for patient care.
Footage from the site depicted a large crater near scattered medical supplies. Residents described fleeing their tents, with one individual expressing a hope for the war's end but skepticism regarding Israel's adherence to a ceasefire agreement without external pressure. A Hamas official stated that the onus was now on Israel to uphold the ceasefire and urged mediators to pressure Israel to cease alleged violations.
