The governorate of Al-Mahra is grappling with a severe crisis in petroleum products and domestic gas, which has been ongoing for several days. Fuel has disappeared from official stations and reappeared in the black market at exorbitant prices, intensifying the suffering of citizens and impacting transportation and services.
Local sources indicated that the crisis stems from the disruption of tanker arrivals due to blockades on the Al-Wadiah route. Gas tankers were stranded for days before the authorities in Marib governorate intervened to end the blockade and allow their passage. However, the crisis persists with no signs of resolution.
The crisis has sparked widespread discontent among the governorate's residents, evidenced by long queues of vehicles at gas and fuel filling stations. According to citizens, the price of 20 liters of fuel in the black market has exceeded 40,000 Yemeni rials.
The repercussions of the crisis have extended to the transportation sector, particularly as a significant number of vehicles rely on gas as an alternative to petroleum products. This has led to an increase in both internal and external transportation fares.
Residents are calling for urgent intervention from the local authorities and relevant bodies to secure supplies, regulate markets, and end the hardship faced by the population.
