Four individuals sustained injuries following a suspected welding-related explosion at a construction site located at 14265 W. Van Nuys Blvd. on Tuesday afternoon, according to authorities.
The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed their response to the incident at 3:24 p.m. Three individuals were transported to area hospitals with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. A fourth person also suffered injuries but declined medical transport.
The identities of the injured parties, whether they were construction workers or members of the public, have not yet been determined.
Emergency response vehicles occupied a significant portion of Van Nuys Boulevard, leading to its closure between Beachy and Canterbury avenues. Authorities are urging motorists to seek alternative routes.
The impact of the explosion was substantial, causing damage to windows on the first and second floors of an adjacent apartment building. The specific cause of the explosion is currently under investigation. Representatives from a gas company, the L.A. Department of Water and Power, and the L.A. Department of Transportation were also on site.
