Dyson has just dropped three new robot vacuums in its Nurovi line, featuring advanced lidar navigation for smarter cleaning. The lineup includes the Dyson R1 Nurovi Dry ($550), the Dyson R2 Nurovi Wash + Dry ($700), and the premium Dyson R3 Nurovi Spot+Scrub UV ($1,200).
These new Nurovi models sport a fresh light gray aesthetic, with base stations that retain Dyson's signature canister design. A significant tech upgrade is the adoption of lidar laser-precision navigation, moving away from the HD camera used in Dyson's previous robot vacuums. All models also boast a Twin-Capture System designed to effectively pick up dust and debris from both hard floors and carpets.
The R1 is a vacuum-only unit, ideal for homes with predominantly carpeted or soft flooring. The R2 and R3, however, are hybrid vacuum-mop machines. A key distinction is availability: the R1 and R3 will be sold on Dyson's website and likely other retailers, while the R2 will be an exclusive offering at Costco.
The R2 Nurovi Wash + Dry is particularly intriguing due to its $700 price point, offering lidar navigation and the Twin-Capture technology. It features unique triangular mopping pads and boasts a strong 21,000 Pa of suction power, though its Costco exclusivity might be a hurdle for some.
At the top of the range, the R3 Nurovi Spot+Scrub UV comes with a $1,200 price tag and enhanced features, including AI that Dyson claims can identify and clean up to 200 household substances. This model also incorporates UV light technology, intended to help detect stains on floors, a feature that promises a more thorough cleaning experience compared to its predecessor.
