Manchester United might get a second shot at signing Manchester City's talented midfielder Elliot Anderson if the Citizens face severe sanctions, including a potential Premier League expulsion.

United showed serious interest in Anderson before his move to City, but the financial aspects made a deal impossible at the time. With City currently navigating an uncertain future due to their Premier League financial charges, the midfielder's availability is now a hot topic.

While nothing is concrete, and many hurdles remain, United's interest in Anderson is reportedly still very much alive. Former United chief scout Mick Brown revealed to Football Insider that the Red Devils could reignite their pursuit if City are forced into significant squad changes.

"There's a big 'if' in there," Brown commented, "but we can speculate about the possibility for now. United were big fans of Anderson and saw him as their ideal midfield target, but the money involved prevented a transfer."

He added that Anderson moved to City for a record fee, but "if they're kicked out of the Premier League and he becomes available, there is a real chance Manchester United could take advantage."

Anderson's profile, offering energy, ball-carrying skills, and midfield flexibility alongside Premier League experience, aligns perfectly with what United sought previously. However, any potential move hinges entirely on the outcome of City's ongoing legal situation, with no immediate plans realistically possible for United yet.
