Thinking about grabbing a new Kindle? Now's your moment, especially with Amazon's Prime Big Deals Day happening. While the discounts aren't as massive as they used to be thanks to recent price hikes, this sale event is still your best bet to snag an e-reader without paying the full, bumped-up price.
Amazon recently rolled out new Kindle models, including updated versions of the Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite, and Kindle Colorsoft, plus kid-friendly editions. These new releases boast features like aluminum finishes, something never seen before on Kindles. While the latest Kindle is available now, the rest are rolling out soon. You'll have to decide if you want to wait for the newest tech or jump on a sale for the current generation before they vanish.
The Kindle Colorsoft is a standout deal, slashed by $100 to just $20 more than the Paperwhite. For that small extra cost, you get color on top of the Paperwhite's features like a 7-inch screen and warm light, plus wireless charging and an ad-free experience on the Signature model. Even though new Colorsoft versions are on the way, don't expect them to hit sale prices this year.
For those who need more than just reading, the Kindle Scribe (3rd Gen) offers an e-reader and digital notebook combo. While typically pricey, it's currently selling for less than its predecessor, making it a compelling buy, especially with cloud storage integration for Google Drive and OneDrive. The Kindle Scribe Colorsoft, while expensive, is also seeing a significant discount, making its color screen more accessible if you're set on colorful notes and highlights.
Kids are also in luck with the Kindle Colorsoft Kids edition, which comes with a full year of Kids+ content and a durable, kid-friendly cover. Although new kid versions are launching, this on-sale model is still a great pick, especially since its price also increased in August. Other popular models like the Kindle Paperwhite and the base Kindle are also on sale, though the discounts are more modest following the price adjustments.
Don't forget accessories! You can find deals on pillow stands for hands-free reading, comfortable e-reader hand straps, and protective hard-shell cases to keep your new Kindle safe on the go.
