Sarr's New Palace Deal Could Include Liverpool Clause, Ex-Scout Claims

Former scout Mick Brown speculates that Ismaila Sarr's potential new Crystal Palace contract might feature a special clause enabling a future transfer to Liverpool, a club that pursued him heavily in the summer.

Sarr was strongly linked with a move to Anfield during the last transfer window, with reports indicating Liverpool had a £50 million bid rejected by Palace. Now, with the 28-year-old reportedly close to agreeing a new lucrative deal at Selhurst Park, Brown suggests the terms could pave the way for Liverpool to revisit their interest.

Speaking to Football Insider, ex-Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown shared his thoughts on Sarr's contract situation following the collapsed summer transfer. "It’s going to be interesting to see if we find out the details of that new contract for Sarr," Brown stated. "Everybody knows he wanted to join Liverpool during the summer, he was disappointed that the offer was rejected and he’s only recently come back into full training."

"So a couple of weeks later, for him to be close to signing a new contract, I expect there will be some sort of Liverpool clause which could allow that deal to still happen," he added. "I’ve seen it happen before, players get clauses put in their contract in case certain teams come in or clubs in certain competitions. I think Sarr will want to leave the door open for that move to Liverpool because of how he reacted after it fell through, and I’m sure Palace will be okay with that for the right price."

Liverpool reportedly launched a £50 million offer for the Senegal international in the closing stages of the summer transfer window, but Crystal Palace held firm. Sarr is said to have been offered an improved contract worth around £120,000 per week, reflecting his importance to the club.

While a new deal would typically strengthen Palace's negotiating position, Brown's prediction suggests a potential release mechanism tied to Liverpool could alter the landscape. For now, any mention of a Liverpool clause remains speculative, but the details of Sarr's new agreement could become crucial if the Reds decide to pursue him again.
