Yemen's Coast Guard has confirmed its ongoing participation in military and security operations aimed at securing islands, coastal areas, and maritime ports. This effort is conducted in coordination with the Giants Brigades, National Shield forces, and the National Resistance, with support from the Arab Coalition command.
Major General Khalid Ali Mohammed Al-Qamli, head of the Yemeni Coast Guard Authority, stated that the forces continue to fulfill their national and military duties under the exceptional circumstances facing the country. These actions are in line with directives from the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, contributing to the protection of Yemen's coasts, islands, and territorial waters.
Al-Qamli elaborated that the Coast Guard's role extends beyond safeguarding territorial waters. It encompasses supporting joint military operations, securing maritime zones, and countering infiltration, smuggling, and illicit supply activities by Houthi militias. These efforts are part of broader initiatives to mitigate threats targeting coastal areas and maritime entry points.
He emphasized the critical importance of integrated roles among the Coast Guard and other military formations involved in the operations. Al-Qamli stressed that joint coordination is essential for keeping pace with field developments, enhancing security and stability in coastal regions, and protecting international shipping lanes in the Bab al-Mandab Strait, the Gulf of Aden, and the Red Sea.
The Coast Guard official affirmed that the forces will continue to execute their missions with responsibility and readiness, alongside other military units. He highlighted that protecting national sovereignty and securing islands, coasts, and maritime passages is a shared responsibility that necessitates sustained cooperation and coordination.
