Yemen's Mayyun Condemns the continued detention of international staff by the Houthis in Sana’a

Yemen's Mayyun Human Rights Organization Condemned the continued detention of a number of staff and humanitarian workers by the Houthi group since last November, including two from the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and UNESCO.

"At the same time, we express our concern about the situation of the two staff members, with whom UNESCO and OHCHR have not been able to communicate since their detention in Sana’a despite the immunities granted to staff of the United Nations system under international law". Mayyun said in a statement.

"We affirm our full solidarity with the families of the detainees who have not received any information about the charges against them or the legal justification for their detention, or even information about their current situation". It added.

Mayyun called for the immediate release of the UN staff and the rest of the staff in humanitarian affairs without conditions, and to stop placing obstacles and attempts to blackmail the international community with these practices.
