Looting of money belonging to banks, businessmen and citizens has increased in the areas under the control of the Iran-backed Houthis, with the aim of controlling the people and looting their savings.
Houthi gunmen stormed the headquarters of the Ebda'a Soft Company in Sana'a in the middle of the week, and seized the company's servers. The Yemeni economic expert, Rashid Al-Anisi said.
In a post on his Facebook page, he explained that the Houthi gunmen had detained the company's director, Hamdan Al-Shahari, as part of their repeated operations of arresting and assaulting companies and businessmen in the areas under their control.
Al-Anisi added explained that Ebda'a Soft system and its remittance network are used by at least 95% of the money changers in Yemen, indicating that the Houthis seek to monitor remittances with the aim of stealing them.
On Tuesday, armed Houthi groups attacked Yemeni businessman Ahmed Al-Kbous, after he refused to comply with the militia's demands to pay royalties imposed on him without any legal justification.
The areas under the control of the Houthis witness looting and robbery of the property of citizens and businessmen, forcing them to pay exorbitant royalties and levies without any legal justification.
