The General Union of Yemeni Journalists (GUYJ) called for the speedy implementation of the outcomes of the Riyadh Consultations, especially those related to the restructuring of the Ministry of Information, and a review of those who contributed and are still fueling the conflict in Yemen, especially the recent Shabwa events.
The (GUYJ) said in a press statement, that the unfortunate events that Shabwa governorate experienced, and the accompanying developments, were a heavy burden on society with its various political orientations, noting that this is a natural product of media shipping and the absence of the role of national and official institutions to unify the media discourse in order to preserve the unity of the class and to leave the homeland to safety.
The Shabwa events are a natural product of the collapse of the media system and its lack of discipline, and the failure of the concerned authorities to organize media work to serve the national trends of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, to reach a comprehensive and sustainable peace in Yemen. The statement said.
The (GUYJ) called on all national political components to adhere to the outcomes of the Riyadh Consultations and the decisions of the Presidential Leadership Council, to support the state of national consensus, especially since the stage requires a serious stand with the state leadership to overcome the challenges and find a real partnership away from the isolation of one political component in power.
It stressed that the Shabwah events and the regional, racist and extremism that accompanied them today require a law regulating the media, both formal and informal, in a manner that serves the direction of the stage in restoring the state and establishing a comprehensive and just peace.
"Yemeni society is looking for peace and cannot tolerate more conflicts, destructive, extremist ideas, and pens that operate without professionalism or national or moral commitment in an open media space, which requires benefiting from it to heal the wounds of Yemenis, bring the views closer, and bring Yemen to safety". It added.
