Well-informed sources revealed that the Iran-backed Houthis have looted huge sums of revenues from various administrative bodies and institutions, in addition to imposing large sums of royalties on large taxpayers, merchants, shop owners and employees, in order to finance their military parades they hold in the areas they control.
The Houthis have collected more than YR38 billion Yemeni, and $5.2 million, while the Yemeni people live in extreme poverty and are deprived of their salaries. The sources said.
Even the humanitarian aid provided by international relief organizations is stolen by the Houthis.
The sources added that the Houthi Finance Minister had withdrawn sums of money from a number of bodies and institutions under direct orders from him to finance the military parades, including YR18 billion from the Central Bank, the Hodeidah branch, from the revenues of Hodeidah port and oil derivative ships, in violation of the Stockholm Agreement and the UN truce, which provides for the disbursement of these amounts as salaries to employees.
The sources explained that the militia allocated the revenues of the bodies (Zakat, endowments, and Postal authorities) to the leaders of the Houthis, noting that during the last days of that, they looted YR3 billion, and allocated it to the military parade held in Al-Sabeen Square.
Documents showed that the Houthis withdrew an amount of $1,200,000 from the account of the Red Sea Ports Corporation, and an amount of $4,000,000 from the account of the General Aviation Authority.
In addition, they withdrew an amount of YR6 billion from the Yemen Mobile Company, one billion from the head of the Land Transport Authority, and YR10 billion from the tax and customs resources of the Ministry of Finance.
