The rebellion carried out by the Yemeni Islah Party in Al-Jawf Governorate (northeast of Sana'a) has had negative repercussions on the military and security situation in the governorate, whose center (the city of Al-Hazm) was taken over by the Houthi militia in March 2020 at the time, the former governor, Amin Al-Okaimi.
The Islah Party's refusal to deal with the decision to dismiss Al-Okaimi and appoint Sheikh Hussein Al-Awadi in his place disrupted efforts to liberate the governorate and freeze the work of the local authority and the interests of the people of the governorate, as it is in the interest of the Houthis.
On October 10, the Head of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, issued two Republican decrees appointing Brigadier General Hussein Al-Awadi as governor of Al-Jawf, and appointing Colonel Mohammed Abdo Al-Ashwal as commander of the Al-Jawf axis, a position that Al-Akimi also held.
Last year, the Houthis claimed full control of the province, which shares a border with Saudi Arabia.
The Islah Party issued a statement defending what it described as the "achievements" of Al-Akimi, who is a member of Parliament and hails from Al-Jawf Governorate, considering that his dismissal "does not serve the public interest and not take into account the success of the battle against the Houthis".
Governor Al-Awadi said that the previous administration of the province refuses to deal with the committee formed by the Ministry of Local Administration to receive and hand over between him and the predecessor governor.
