The Iran-backed Houthis have escalated targeting of activists, who denounce the militia's corruption and their intentional starvation and impoverishment of citizens in return for the inflation of the wealth of Houthi leaders.
Local sources said that Hothi members kidnapped the YouTuber, Mustafa Al-Maumri, in front of his house in the capital, Sana'a, and also the activist Hammoud Al-Mesbahi, days after the Houthis kidnapped the activist Ahmed Hajar.
In November, the Houthis kidnapped the human rights activist Adel Al-Ansi in Sana'a.
According to human rights sources, Al-Ansi was kidnapped because of his demand for his salary, which has been suspended for years. The Houthis prevented Al-Ansi from visiting, even his family members.
In August, the Houthi militia forcibly arrested the academic Ibrahim Al-Kibsi in a security and intelligence prison in Sana'a, after demanding his salary.
In May, the Houthis kidnapped two activists in Ibb Governorate, Murad Al-Banna and Khaled Al-Ansi, on the basis of their opinions on social media. They are still in detention.
Voices were raised condemning corruption, injustice, the destruction of institutions, and the looting of merchants and citizens by the Houthis and their leaders.
Observers believe that the policy of silencing mouths that the Houthis have escalated during the past few months against activists, journalists and bloggers on social media, with the aim of delaying the popular revolution, may have reflexive repercussions in the direction of accelerating the revolution of salvation from this gang.
