An official report reveals massive Houthi corruption

An official report issued by the Houthi authorities revealed that 26 officials shared one billion riyals within a year.

According to the report issued by the Houthi-affiliated Central Agency for Control and Accounting and broadcast by Al-Mallsi News Network, the officials who looted this money work for the Ministry of Finance and the Customs Authority in Sana'a.

The report said that 14 officials of the Ministry of Finance in the unrecognized Houthi government and the Customs Authority, in addition to 12 officials shared within one year one billion riyals as expenses, while the administration of the Authority spent tens of billions outside the framework of the state budget and far exceeds its actual needs.

It comes at a time when the unrecognized Houthi government is complaining of its inability to pay employees' salaries for the sixth year in a row, under the pretext of what it calls "aggression and siege, and the recognized government's control of oil and gas resources."

The report stated that the Central Organization for Control and Accountability in Sana'a deleted the report from the website after it was published.

The report is about the results of the review of the Presidency of the Customs Authority and the Sana’a Customs and Control Office during the years 2019-2021.
