The Executive Office of the General Union of Yemeni Journalists held a meeting with a number of members of the Union in Marib, headed by the Secretary-General of the Union, Ali Al-Sha'abani.
During the meeting, a number of issues were discussed, most notably the Union's mechanism of action during the coming period in Marib, in addition to training and rehabilitation programs and activities for media activists and specialized journalists, which keep pace with developments in various media outlets.
The Secretary-General listened to the proposals and visions presented by the attendees, aimed at developing and expanding the activities and role of the Union for the current year 2023.
The meeting stressed the need to unify the national media discourse among the various components to confront the Houthi media machine that targets Yemeni society.
The meeting called on the Yemeni government to reform the media sector and restructure the jobs in it to accommodate all national media cadres, and work to improve the conditions of media colleagues and journalists in official and private media institutions so that they can fulfill their message and media role.
It also condemned the state of repression and terrorism practiced by the Houthi militia against YouTubers, media activists and journalists who are subjected to malicious trials and fabricated charges, calling for their immediate and unconditional release.
