Iran-backed Houthis turn the truce into an opportunity to mobilize fighters

The Iran-backed Houthis took advantage of the truce sponsored by the United Nations between the Yemeni parties more than two months ago to mobilize, fighters, set up summer training camps and build barricades and trenches in preparation for new rounds of fighting. Informed sources told Yemen Details.

The Houthis have sent reinforcements, including military elements and armored vehicles, to the front lines, and trained their elements, which they attracted from the centers and summer courses in their camps, taking advantage of the cessation of air strikes by the Arab Coalition. The sources said.

In this regard, Bruce Riedel, a former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) analyst and counter-terrorism expert, told Yemen Details, that the Houthis digging tunnels and sending reinforcements to Marib are evidence that they are far from peace and are planning long-term wars.

Iran is working hard to encourage other countries to support the Houthis. He said.

Iran is still supplying the Houthis with weapons despite the Saudi-Iranian normalization. The Houthi militia owes much to Hezbollah, which is a source of valuable expertise, especially in missiles, drones, training and advice. Riedel told Yemen Details

Thanks to the cease fire Yemen has fallen from the news in America.  It is just ignored shamefully. Riedel added.

Washington should help our Saudi ally find a way out of the Yemen quagmire that has created hell on earth.
