Yemen: Houthi disputes over Ministry of Interior escalated

Tensions have expanded among the leaders of the Iran-backed Houthis, to include a number of state institutions that are affected by the severity of the tensions between the militias, but this time in the Ministry of the Interior to include all institutions affiliated with it.

Security sources told Khabar Agency that sharp tensions have expanded between Houthi leaders in the Ministry of Interior in Sana'a, over appointments and exclusion, in addition to major disagreements over the plundering of land and property of leaders in the recognized government.

According to the sources, Amir Al-Din Al-Houthi, the uncle of the leader of the Houthis, who was appointed as their interior minister in Sanaa, looted dozens of homes and lands belonging to leaders and members of the recognized government, under the name of "confiscating the properties of traitors".

The Houthi Interior Minister transferred the ownership of confiscated homes and lands to the names of his relatives, in order to evade later restitution. The sources said.

The disputes and tensions expanded as a result of the Minister of Interior's refusal to give Houthi leaders belonging to Saada governorate their share of the confiscated property, and that Al-Houthi had nearly 50% of the total confiscated. However, he denied confiscating some of the houses that transferred them to the names of his relatives, which led to a demand from the Saada leaders to give them their share of all the looted homes and lands. The sources added.

The sources said that the leaders of Saada threatened the Houthi interior minister with elimination, if he insisted on refusing to give them their share of all that they looted, while the latter threatened them with imprisonment and complete disappearance. Despite the intervention of Mahdi Al-Mashat and his office manager, tensions still exist until now.
