The Iran-backed Houthis have launched new Shia Hussainiyas in the Al-Jawf province (northeast Yemen) to train children and youth on the Twelver sectarian doctrine as part of their plan to turn Yemen into a new Iranian state.
Yemeni tribal sources in the province said that the Houthis are gathering children and youth in designated areas for mourning and wailing, training them to cry for Hussain, who was killed over a thousand years ago in a power dispute.
Recently, a leaked video showed the Houthi militia gathering many children from the Al-Jawf province in a newly built building converted into a Shia Hussainiya for mourning Hussain.
The video shows them chanting Houthi-inspired songs influenced by Iraqi Shia groups - particularly the Twelvers - which the Houthis are attempting to replicate in Yemen, erasing moderate religious sects, especially the Zaydis.
The Houthis have also created Shia schools under the name "The Martyr Leader Schools," referring to the late Hussain Al-Houthi, the founder of the militia in Yemen, where monthly salaries of YR20,000 are provided to each student, along with meals and accommodation, targeting provinces such as Ibb, Raymah, and other Sunni areas.
