The General Union of Yemeni Journalists (GUYJ) condemns the tragic events and terrorist acts carried out by the Houthi group against the Yemeni people in their controlled areas, which coincided with the celebrations of the 26th of September revolution.

The Union stated that the Houthis have arrested over a thousand individuals and detained them, in addition to causing dozens of injuries to those who voluntarily participated in the celebrations, raising the flags of the republic in commemoration of their national day.

The Union calls for the immediate release of the detainees and the prosecution of those involved in these crimes, in accordance with the constitution and the law. It also urges all journalists, activists, and human rights organizations inside and outside the country to organize campaigns through various media outlets and social media platforms to condemn these brutal crimes that the Houthis have been committing in Sanaa, Ibb, Dhamar, until all detainees and abductees are released unconditionally.

The General Union of Yemeni Journalists also denounces the campaigns of defamation, intimidation, and incitement carried out by the Houthi group against activists demanding their rightful salaries and rights. The Union calls on all Arab and international human rights organizations to take responsibility for the plight of journalists and activists in the areas controlled by the Houthi militias.
