Statement by (Regain Yemen) regarding the decisions of the Yemen's Public Funds Court

The (Regain Yemen) Initiative stated that it has been monitoring the decisions of the Public Funds Court, which convicted Al-Amal Microfinance and Commercial Yemeni Bank and the International Yemen Bank for their involvement in failing to comply with the implementation of anti-money laundering and terrorism financing laws.

The Initiative, while welcoming these important decisions, calls on the Central Bank of Yemen in Aden to take strict actions against banks that are under the control of the Houthis and do not adhere to the legitimate instructions of the Yemeni Central Bank or anti-money laundering and terrorist financing laws.

"Such judgments are highly appreciated as they stem from the core of our recommendations in our own reports on the banking and exchange sector, which were initiated to put an end to the Houthi's disruption of the banking and exchange sector". The Initiative said in a statement.

"We also demand that the Central Bank file the necessary lawsuits against banks, exchange companies, and currency exchange firms with the Public Money Prosecution and Court". It added.

It is essential for such rulings to also target other banks that collude with the Houthi militia or provide any form of services to them, whether from banks, exchange companies, or individuals involved in money smuggling and laundering for the benefit of the Houthi militia, which is listed on international terrorism lists". It further said.
