The story of the Yemeni girl, Jannat Taher, topped social media platforms in Yemen and the Arab world due to its horrific details and painful circumstances.

Yemeni child Jannat was assaulted and raped by a married man in his 20s, however, what was shocking was that the horrific sexual attack was covered up by the tribe.

According to Yemeni news sites, the horrific crime occurred weeks ago in the Artel area of Sanhan District in Sana'a, when a man raped the child Jannat Taher and then threatened to kill her if she tells anyone.

Allegations shared by some activists online claiming that the suspect could be Ahmed Hossein Nejad, who is a Houthi leader. However, nothing official confirmed or denied this rumor regarding the identity of the sexual attacker.

The rape of Yemeni child Jannat

According to reports, the father of the child, Janat Taher, appealed to Yemenis to stand with him in the case of the rape of his child allegedly by a "Houthi leader" in Sanaa.

Activists claimed that the perpetrator does have judicial, legal, and tribal protection due to his position in the government adding that the family of the child belongs to a poor family and her father is a simple man.

Although the father of the victim, Jannat, sought to turn his case into a public opinion case, some Yemeni tribes allegedly tried to convince him to marry his daughter to the attacker and close the case, in exchange for gifts and sums of money.
