Iran-backed Houthis abduct a female activist in Yemen's Sanaa

The Iran-backed Houthis, on Wednesday have abducted a female activist in the Yemeni capital, Sanaa and taken her to an unknown location, in a new escalation of human rights violations.

Elements from the Houthi security and intelligence apparatus, along with a number of "Zainabiyyat" (armed female militia affiliated with the group), abducted the activist Sahar Abdu Al-Khawlani and took her to an unknown location. Local sources said.

The incident came after a series of criticisms made by Al-Khawlani towards the Houthi militia, where she condemned the racist treatment practiced by the group's leaders against the Yemenis, and calling for the payment of salaries to employees that the militia has been confiscating for about nine years.

This crime is part of a series of violations carried out by the Houthis against activists in the areas under their control, in an attempt to silence all voices critical of their oppressive policies.
