Los Angeles is forecast to experience a significant warming trend this week, aligning with the U.S. men's national soccer team's first World Cup match on Friday at SoFi Stadium.

A shift in atmospheric conditions is expected to bring warmer temperatures to the region. An upper-level trough that has influenced cooler weather across the Pacific Northwest is forecast to dissipate. By Monday, temperatures are projected to rise, with highs reaching the 70s and low 80s in the valleys and the mid- to upper 80s in desert areas, according to the National Weather Service.

For Friday's World Cup kickoff, scheduled around 6 p.m., meteorologists anticipate sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70s. By the conclusion of the match, temperatures are expected to decrease to the mid-60s. Ryan Kittell, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, described the conditions as "pretty nice, typical June weather for that area in Inglewood."

The warming is expected to intensify by Wednesday, with temperatures potentially 5 to 10 degrees higher than Monday. Highs on the coastal plain could range from the mid-70s to mid-80s, while valleys may see temperatures between the mid-80s and mid-90s. Desert areas could approach 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

The National Weather Service has indicated a 20% possibility of issuing heat advisories for Wednesday across warmer valleys, specifically mentioning the southern Salinas, Santa Clarita, and western San Fernando Valleys. Similar temperature patterns are anticipated through the weekend, attributed to persistent high pressure and onshore air flows, with daily temperatures expected to be approximately 5 to 10 degrees above average.

Separately, wind advisories have been posted for areas along the Santa Barbara southwest coast and through the I-5 corridor from Monday night into early Tuesday morning. Additionally, slightly stronger northwesterly winds on Tuesday might prompt wind advisories across the central coast, southwestern Santa Barbara County, and mountainous regions.
