A customer was fatally struck Tuesday evening when a vehicle crashed through the storefront of a Manhattan Beach laundromat, according to authorities.
Manhattan Beach police responded to the incident at Suds & Duds Coin Laundry on Aviation Boulevard at approximately 6 p.m. A car reportedly drove over the sidewalk and into the business, colliding with a person inside who was doing laundry. The vehicle breached the glass storefront.
The victim was found pinned between the vehicle and a washing machine, according to witness Bryson Garcia, who spoke to NBC4. "I did see someone who was, who was under the car," Garcia stated. "It looked like they were under the car and their arm was stuck in between the car and a washing machine."
The reasons for the vehicle driving into the laundromat remain unknown at this time. It was not immediately clear if the driver of the vehicle had been arrested. Police confirmed that the driver sustained no injuries in the collision.
