Yemenia Airways has announced the resumption of its flight services to the Socotra archipelago, utilizing Al Ghaydah International Airport in Al Mahrah Governorate. This development is expected to significantly enhance air transport and facilitate the movement of citizens and travelers between the islands and other Yemeni governorates.
Tamim Abdullah, the director of Yemenia Airways in the Al Ghaydah region, confirmed that a new flight to Socotra will operate via Al Ghaydah International Airport on Sunday. He indicated that all inbound flights through the airport have been opened within the sales system, with booking available to passengers through the company's offices and accredited agents.
Abdullah explained that the resumption of flights follows the completion of technical arrangements and the provision of the necessary aviation fuel for regular flight operations. This ensures the continuation of weekly flights through Al Ghaydah Airport in the coming period.
This measure is anticipated to alleviate the hardships faced by the residents of Socotra. The archipelago has recently experienced near-complete isolation due to the suspension of air travel, causing considerable difficulties for patients, students, and travelers. Many inhabitants were compelled to resort to sea transport, undertaking long and perilous journeys to reach the mainland.
