Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei stated that he authorized a memorandum of understanding signed by Iranian and U.S. presidents, despite personal reservations, following assurances that Iran's rights and the interests of the "Resistance Front" would be protected.
In a written message to the Iranian people, Khamenei detailed that President Masoud Pezeshkian, in his role as head of the Supreme National Security Council, accepted accountability for safeguarding Iran's interests within the agreement. Pezeshkian reportedly pledged not to concede to what he characterized as excessive demands from Washington.
Khamenei emphasized that future direct negotiations with the United States would not signify an acceptance of the "enemy's position."
