Spurs Shut Down Liverpool, Barcelona Links for Van de Ven

Tottenham is firmly keeping Micky van de Ven this summer, dismissing any talk of interest from Liverpool and Barcelona. Renowned football insider Fabrizio Romano confirms there are no current plans for a move to either club, with Spurs viewing the Dutch centre-back as a crucial piece of their project under new manager Roberto De Zerbi.

The message from North London is crystal clear: Van de Ven is not for sale. This will be a massive relief for Tottenham fans as the club looks to rebuild its identity under De Zerbi. Keeping hold of key defenders is just as vital as bringing in new talent.

Van de Ven's blistering pace, incredible recovery defending, and ability to carry the ball out from the back make him a perfect fit for De Zerbi's aggressive, front-foot style of play. De Zerbi himself sees the defender as absolutely essential, even telling Van de Ven directly, "I’m going to rely on you," highlighting his immense importance.

While Liverpool has been linked with the defender in the past, and Barcelona has also been mentioned as admirers, Tottenham's stance is unwavering. They are reportedly very reluctant to even consider offers, even from top clubs.

Selling Van de Ven wouldn't make much sense for Tottenham, especially after already making moves in defense with the signing of Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton. The club's position is firm: Van de Ven is central to De Zerbi's plans, Liverpool and Barcelona are unlikely to make any progress, and Spurs are focused on building around him, not cashing in.

Meanwhile, Liverpool is still on the hunt for a new centre-back, particularly following reports of Ibrahima Konaté's potential departure to Real Madrid. They are expected to ramp up their search soon.
