Two vessels managed by South Korea successfully transited the Strait of Hormuz following the recent signing of a memorandum of understanding between the U.S. and Iran concerning a ceasefire agreement, according to Seoul's Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.
The ministry confirmed on Monday that both ships are proceeding without incident, though it noted they have not yet completely cleared a designated high-risk area. Specific details regarding the identity or cargo of these vessels were withheld by the ministry.
Officials also clarified that the ships do not have South Korean crew members aboard and their destinations are not South Korea.
The ministry further stated that a total of 22 South Korean-managed vessels are currently situated within the Strait of Hormuz.
