Samsung Unveils Three New Galaxy Z Foldables: Fold8 Ultra, Fold8, and Flip8

Samsung is shaking up its foldable phone lineup with three distinct new models: the flagship Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, the innovative new Galaxy Z Fold8 with a wider form factor, and the compact Galaxy Z Flip8. This eighth-generation update aims to cater to a wider range of users, from power users craving the biggest screens to those prioritizing portability in a stylish flip design.

All three new Galaxy Z foldables boast Samsung's Dynamic AMOLED 2X display technology, featuring a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR support, and a peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits for excellent outdoor visibility. They also include features to reduce eye strain. The Fold8 Ultra and Fold8 incorporate a Flex Titanium layer to minimize the screen crease and enhance durability, offering a flatter, smoother display with reduced glare. Under the hood, all models are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, paired with 12GB of RAM (with options for 16GB on higher-end models) and 256GB or 512GB of storage (up to 1TB on the Ultra and Fold8). They are all IP48 water and dust resistant and feature a durable Advanced Armor Aluminum frame. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7 and Ultra Wideband (UWB).

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is Samsung's top-tier offering, featuring a large 6.5-inch cover display and an expansive 8-inch main screen. It sports a substantial 5,000 mAh battery and a premium camera system: a 200MP main sensor, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. This device is aimed at users who want the ultimate foldable experience and are willing to pay a premium.

The new Galaxy Z Fold8 introduces a unique, wider form factor, measuring shorter but wider than the Ultra. Its 7.6-inch main display offers a more squarish aspect ratio, potentially better for media consumption. Weighing in at 201 grams, it's the lightest large-screen foldable. While it shares many specs with the Fold8 Ultra, it has a slightly smaller 4,800 mAh battery and a simplified camera setup with two 50MP lenses (wide and ultrawide), omitting the telephoto lens but offering 10x digital zoom. This model is for those seeking something different and adventurous.

Rounding out the lineup is the Galaxy Z Flip8, the world's lightest and thinnest flip phone, designed for ultimate portability. It features a 4.1-inch cover screen and unfolds to a 6.9-inch main display. It packs a 4,300 mAh battery and a dual-camera system with a 50MP main sensor and a 12MP ultrawide, capable of 4K video recording. This phone is perfect for users who miss smaller devices but still want the fun and convenience of a flip design.

Samsung also announced the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Watch9 smartwatches. The Watch Ultra2 boasts an even brighter display and enhanced durability, with specialized pro-level sport tracking. The Watch9 offers a 20% battery bump and advanced health monitoring features. All new Galaxy Z phones are available unlocked directly from Samsung.com, often with exclusive color options and trade-in deals, and come with a six-month Google AI Pro trial.
