Manchester City's new recruit Jeremy Monga has revealed it was an easy decision to join the Etihad Stadium, even though Arsenal also pursued him.
The highly-rated 17-year-old prospect, who impressed at former club Leicester City, admitted that a move to Arsenal was "very close" to happening.
However, Monga ultimately chose City because of their consistent success and trophy-laden history. He told BBC Sport, "The main decision was probably the pathway and the club itself. They’ve been so successful that it was a no-brainer when City call. It’s every child’s dream to win trophies and be at the top with the best."
Monga added, "Once I get the opportunity I just need to show myself, and once I do that, everything will take care of itself. I feel like, to me personally, I see myself at City more. I see myself in blue."
While Monga has shown flashes of talent in pre-season, breaking into Enzo Maresca's first-team at City will be challenging due to intense competition for places. Nevertheless, he clearly felt it was the right step to advance his career.
