Grammy Award-winning songwriter Diane Warren has adopted a piglet, affectionately nicknamed 'Wilbur' by social media users, who recently became a viral sensation after evading capture in West Hollywood. The foundation led by Warren has provided the animal with a permanent home at a sanctuary.
The piglet's journey to stardom began last weekend when a video of attempts to catch it in West Hollywood was widely shared online. Although the initial pursuer was unsuccessful, the attention generated likely altered the animal's fate. The piglet was subsequently secured and transported to the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter.
After five days without an owner coming forward, the shelter placed the approximately 11-week-old, 17-pound piglet up for adoption. A silent auction was held on Thursday among four interested parties. Marcia Zwilling, representing the Diane Warren Foundation, which aids animals, was among the contenders.
Zwilling conveyed that Warren, known for composing hits such as Cher's "If I Could Turn Back Time" and Aerosmith's "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing," expressed a strong desire to adopt the pig for her seven-acre animal sanctuary in Malibu after viewing the viral videos. Zwilling successfully placed the winning bid and transported Wilbur to the sanctuary.
At the sanctuary, Wilbur was reportedly fed a salad and placed in a spacious enclosure adjacent to another adopted pig named "Wiener." Zwilling described Wilbur's new life as "heaven," anticipating he will have the freedom to roam and interact with other animals as he grows, with a daily diet of "gourmet" salads. Warren is said to be delighted with the adoption, calling it "a 'pig' deal." The individual who initially brought attention to Wilbur expressed happiness for the pig's well-being, stating, "As long as he’s good now, all is great."
