Liverpool Loan Bid for Chelsea Star Gusto Rejected

Liverpool reportedly made a late loan attempt to sign Chelsea right-back Malo Gusto, but the bid was unsuccessful as the Blues were only interested in a permanent transfer.

According to journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Liverpool's offer was for a loan without a mandatory buy clause. However, Chelsea was pushing for a permanent deal, and Liverpool's financial situation meant they couldn't meet those demands.

The push for Gusto highlights Liverpool's ongoing challenges at right-back following the departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold last year. While Jeremie Frimpong was brought in as a replacement, he hasn't consistently impressed, and Gusto was seen as a potential upgrade.

With the transfer window closing, it now appears Malo Gusto will remain at Chelsea. Manchester City had also shown interest, but that move didn't materialize either. Gusto's playing time at Chelsea might be limited if Reece James remains fit and with the addition of new signing Marco Palestra for the right-back role.
