The Argentina international's exit comes after what he described as a "difficult time personally," though he also emphasized the happiness he experienced during much of his tenure at Stamford Bridge. Fernandez's statement acknowledges a period where he "hasn’t been in a good place," signaling the personal struggles that may have led to his decision.

He continued, "But life is about making decisions, and right now I find myself having to make one of those difficult decisions. I’ve said it before, but I want to say it again: I have grown incredibly fond of this club. Chelsea will always have a place in my thoughts and, above all, in my heart."
