A Southern California man accidentally killed his 6-year-old son while backing out of the family's driveway in a Tesla Cybertruck, authorities reported.
The incident occurred around 9 p.m. Saturday at the family's residence near Temecula. Tarik El Guindy, 48, struck the child, identified by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office as Preston El Guindy, according to a California Highway Patrol (CHP) collision report. The child sustained critical injuries and was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
CHP Officer Jesus Garcia stated that preliminary findings strongly indicate the event was an accident, with no immediate signs of foul play. The investigation remains active as officers analyze video footage from the Cybertruck and other pertinent evidence. The CHP report confirmed that the Tesla was not operating in autopilot mode at the time of the collision.
A GoFundMe campaign established to assist the family with funeral expenses described Preston as having been playing outside when he was struck by a vehicle. The page conveyed the profound grief of his parents and sister, Scarlett, noting Preston's joyful disposition and the love he inspired.
Records suggest Tarik El Guindy is a judge and media personality involved in international bodybuilding competitions, including the Mr. Olympia contest, where he is known by the slightly different spelling of his first name, Terrick. El Guindy had recently promoted the upcoming 62nd annual Joe Weider’s Olympia Fitness & Performance Weekend. His public Instagram profile includes a video highlight reel titled "Preston," featuring his son engaged in baseball activities.
