Havertz "Upset" About Not Scoring Despite Lille Win, Arteta Reveals

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta revealed that Kai Havertz was notably disappointed about not scoring a goal during the team's recent victory against Lille, despite his significant contributions on the field.

The Gunners are gearing up for their next Premier League match against Nottingham Forest on Sunday, entering the game on a positive note with two consecutive wins. This follows a challenging 3-0 defeat to Brighton before the international break. However, Arsenal has since bounced back with a 2-1 win over Leeds United and a commanding 3-0 victory against Lille.

Havertz put in a strong performance during the Champions League win against Lille, but it appears he remained unsatisfied with his personal output, particularly his inability to find the back of the net.

Speaking at a press conference, Arteta highlighted Havertz's intense competitive spirit. "He’s so competitive, Kai," Arteta stated. "He came in against Lille, he made a massive impact, you could see it straight away what he did on the pitch. He left the pitch and he was so upset that he didn’t score a goal."

Arteta further elaborated on Havertz's mindset, emphasizing his desire to contribute and improve. "He was happy to help the team, but he was so upset. That’s the Kai that we want, the guy that wants to evolve and improve every single day. He loves the game, he loves to learn, he loves to feel important. He loves to feel that he can help other players as well."

The manager also expressed his satisfaction with how quickly Havertz has regained his top form after a lengthy period sidelined by injury last season, noting that such a comeback is never easy. It's evident that the former Chelsea player is set to be a crucial component of the Arsenal squad this season, demonstrating his value when fit and performing at his best.
