Brazilian attacker Estevao Willian is facing limited opportunities at Chelsea and is being advised to consider a loan move in January to secure regular playing time.
Despite being a highly-rated prospect, Estevao has struggled to break into Xabi Alonso's starting lineup this season, finding himself behind several other attacking options. He has yet to start a Premier League match, accumulating just 23 minutes across four appearances.
Former Chelsea winger Scott Sinclair emphasized the importance of consistent game time for young players. "As a young player, all you want to do is play football," Sinclair stated, drawing from his own experiences with multiple loan spells. "When you aren't, you have to go out on loan to gain experience and game time."
Sinclair believes that the longer a player goes without playing, the harder it becomes to regain match fitness and earn a place in the team. He suggested that given Estevao's age and potential, securing consistent minutes should be the priority, even if it means leaving Stamford Bridge temporarily.
While a permanent exit is seen as too drastic, a well-chosen loan deal could be mutually beneficial. A six-month spell at a club where he would be a regular starter could significantly aid his development, potentially turning him into a more complete player for Chelsea next season.
