British Man Charged With Aiding Iran Intelligence at UK Air Base

A British national has been charged with assisting Iran's intelligence service following a significant security incident last month at a Royal Air Force (RAF) base in England utilized by the United States.

The individual, identified as Mohmed Ahmad Abdulkarim, a 24-year-old from Westminster, London, faces charges under the National Security Act. Authorities stated that this legislation criminalizes providing assistance to a foreign intelligence service, and in this instance, the country believed to be Iran.

A second British man, 24-year-old Nouman Essghir, was also charged under the same act. His charges relate to entering, accessing, inspecting, or approaching a "prohibited place" for reasons deemed detrimental to the United Kingdom's safety or interests, according to police statements.

Mr. Essghir was reportedly apprehended near RAF Fairford, the air base located in Gloucestershire, England, in the early hours of September 27. On the same morning, five men were detained after approaching the base perimeter in three white vans. Initial suspicions included explosives offenses and preparation for a terrorist act. However, only a container of gasoline was found in their vehicle, and all five were subsequently released on bail.
