Despite limited game time at Real Madrid, Trent Alexander-Arnold is reportedly determined to stay and fight for his place, ruling out a January transfer.
Speculation surrounding the full-back's future has been rife due to a lack of consistent appearances for Real Madrid. However, an insider close to the situation has clarified that Alexander-Arnold has no immediate plans to leave and is committed to breaking into manager Jose Mourinho's starting lineup.
Journalist Guillem Balague, speaking on talkSPORT, dismissed the possibility of a January move, stating, "No, not in January. What he’s feeling right now is ‘Okay, it’s not my time, but it will be my time, I will prepare for my time’. That’s how he’s taking the whole thing."
Balague noted that Alexander-Arnold faces stiff competition, with Fede Valverde and Denzel Dumfries ahead of him at right-back, and Eder Militao also being deployed in that role. He added that Alexander-Arnold has been encouraged by Mourinho to persevere, with assurances that his opportunity will come. The journalist also pointed out that when Alexander-Arnold has featured, it has often been in midfield due to player absences, which may have skewed perceptions of his standing.
Despite the challenges, Alexander-Arnold is said to be motivated to succeed at Real Madrid, having made significant sacrifices for the move. While his current stance is to remain and compete, the situation could become more fluid if game time doesn't improve by the end of the season.
