Manchester United has officially hit its worst winless streak in 34 years, failing to secure a victory in their last nine matches across all competitions following a 2-0 loss to Chelsea.
This grim statistic matches a run of form not seen at Old Trafford since 1988. The recent defeat against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge marks another disappointing outing for Michael Carrick's side, who appeared outmatched throughout the game.
The slump includes a home loss to a ten-man Manchester City, a draw against a struggling Tottenham side, and significant defeats to Como and Bournemouth. The club's current form is a stark contrast to previous eras, with United having won only one Premier League game all season and currently sitting precariously in 17th place.
Fans who had previously backed Carrick may now be reconsidering, especially given the team's overall poor performance. The club's decision to appoint a relatively inexperienced manager now appears to be a gamble that hasn't paid off, potentially forcing them to look for a manager with a more proven track record, such as Antonio Conte or Unai Emery.
While Carrick's interim tenure after Ruben Amorim's difficult spell showed promise, the current situation seems dire. It appears inevitable that a change in management is needed to steer the club out of its current crisis.
